RN-Part Time (10-15 hours a week)
The Residential Nurse-Trainer has the responsibility of training and authorizing direct care staff to administer prescribed medications to the individuals who reside within the ARC Residential Program. He or she is directly responsible to the Residential Program Director.
Residential Responsibilities
Meet the requirements of DHS Rule 116, Nurse Trainer.
- Responsible for the training and authorizing of non-licensed direct care staff for the purpose of medication administration.
- Responsible for determining whether an individual is capable of self-medication and making that recommendation to the individual’s physician.
- Responsible for reviewing and making corrections to each individual’s Medication Administration Record (MAR), and physician’s orders.
- Responsible for responding to all medication errors and suspected adverse drug reactions.
- Responsible for assessing each individual’s health status quarterly.
- Oversee the storage, distribution and administration of medications of all ARC residences.
- Re-evaluate the competency of each authorized direct care staff annually.
- Train each authorized DSP on new medications and their side-effects which are prescribed for individuals in their care prior to administering the new medication.
- Be available by phone whenever a medication question arises.
- Responsible for providing assistance, direction and advice regarding medical changes in the individual’s program.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education (minimum requirements for education and experience)
- Preferred: RN or BSN, possess two years of clinical professional nursing experience within the past two years, at least one of which shall preferably have been in developmental disabilities.
- Certification/Licensure/Registration required for Illinois License (current year)
- Successfully completed the DHS Nurse/Trainer Training Program.
Experience:
- Technical - two years of nursing experience

Residential Relief – Float -Part Time
Responsible for the operation of the residence and for providing appropriate, quality care to the residents as determined by the Community Support Team and in accordance with established guidelines developed by The William M. BeDell Achievement and Resource Center and the Illinois Department of Human Services Disabilities.
Agency Responsibilities:
- Attend all in-services and other scheduled meetings/activities as directed by the Program Director.
- Establish and maintain good relations with the community in which the residence is located.
- Compile reports, data and other information as directed and provide all necessary paperwork and time sheets to the office in a timely manner.
- Inform the Residential Supervisor of any changes, problems, or concerns relating to the residents or their response to care and treatment.
- Inform the Residential Supervisor of any problems relating to the maintenance of the home.
- Inform the Lead Supervisor of any serious problems in the home requiring immediate attention or assistance.
- Inform the Lead Supervisor of any change in plans or unusual situations.
- Comply with all agency and program policies and procedures.
- Responsible for working as scheduled or finding replacements as in accordance to the policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Program Responsibilities
- To provide appropriate, quality care to each individual resident in the home in accordance with the Individual Service Plan and as agreed upon by the Community Support Team.
- To be aware and familiar with any and all new developments within the home by reading the Log Book, attending home meetings, and communicating with the Residential Supervisor.
- To assure that all medications are given as prescribed and all other medical procedures are carried out as directed within the home.
- To assure that residents are provided quality and nutritious meals.
- To assure that all diet restrictions are carried out as directed.
- To assist residents in developing and pursuing appropriate leisure-time and recreational activities in accordance with their individual interests and abilities.
- To assist residents in developing and maintaining healthful grooming and hygiene practices.
- To assure that the home is maintained in a manner which is healthful, safe, orderly, pleasant, clean, and comfortable.
- To provide a warm, nurturing family environment in which each individual has every reasonable opportunity to grow and experience the world to the best of their ability.
- To lift and assist with transferring residents when appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.

Teachers Aide
The Care Aide is responsible for carrying out therapeutic programs as set forth by the classroom teacher. He or she is directly responsible to the classroom teacher.
Agency Responsibilities:
- Attend all staff meetings, and in-service training sessions as directed by the Executive Director.
- Comply with agency personnel policies and other duties/directives as assigned.
School Responsibilities
- Assist children in arrival at school and departure from school, i.e. loading/unloading buses, checking school bags, removing coats, etc.
- Participate in supervising large group activities as directed by classroom teacher.
- Assist in lifting and carrying of students who weigh up to 150 pounds.
- Assist in preparing the classroom for any activities scheduled (cook day, decorating bulletin boards, walls, art projects, etc.)
- Assist in cleaning and disinfecting the room on a daily basis.
- Assist in preparing charts on a monthly/weekly basis (potty charts, changing diapers, depending on individual needs of the student.
- Assist children in toileting needs, i.e. placing on potty, changing diapers, depending on individual needs of the student.
- Assist children as needed during snacks and lunches.
- Assist students in all areas of self-help and functioning living skills.
- Maintain confidentiality at-all-times.
- Develop, secure and maintain materials as assigned by classroom teacher.

Agency Responsibilities

- Comply with agency personnel policy and other directives as assigned.
School Responsibilities
- Assess students to determine their skill levels, abilities and deficit areas.
- Develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for students, which addresses their individual needs.
- Implement and supervise the implementation of student programs as identified in the goals and objectives listed in a student's IEP.
- Manage the classroom by supervising assigned teacher aides and volunteers.
- Assist in lifting and carrying of students who weigh up to 150 pounds.
- Assist children in toileting needs, i.e. placing on potty, changing diapers, depending on individual needs of the student.
- Assist in developing and executing Behavior Intervention Plans and other plans as developed by therapists (in addition to IEP).
- Maintain student classroom files and program folders.
- Complete all required reports, forms, charts, etc. (Daily Student Attendance, Seizure Reports, Incident Reports, IEP's, Parent Reports, Home Visit Reports, etc.)
- Attend and participate in certified staff meetings.
- Attend all school in-services.
- Implement and supervise feeding/feeding program.
- Maintain a working relationship with parents.
- Evaluate teacher aides as designated by the Director of School Services.
- Supervise cleanliness of classroom and assigned school area.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Classroom Teacher is responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of the broad range of educational/treatment programs that meet the needs of the students served, and their families. He or she is directly responsible to the Principal/Assistant Principal

DSP I OF COMMUNITY DAY SERVICES PROGRAM
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The DSP I of the Community Day Services Program has the responsibility of providing direct care and training for the individuals served. He/She is directly responsible to the Program Supervisor.
Agency Responsibilities
- Adhere to agency personnel policies and procedures.
- Remain current on CPR/AED/First Aid training.
- Adhere to the following governing bodies standards and guidelines:
- Illinois Mental Health Code (ILL. Rev 1987)
- Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act
- Department of Human Services Rule 119; Minimum Standards for Certification of CDS Programs
- Office of Inspector General (OIG) Emergency Rule 50
- Investigations of Alleged Abuse or Neglect in Community Agencies
DSP I Responsibilities
- Provide program training in accordance with the Personal Plan/Implementation Strategy and Individual Service Plan as determined by those participating in the development of the Personal Plan/Interdisciplinary Team.
- Assist with therapeutic behavior interventions as stated in Individual Personal Plan
- Maintain equipment and work material in a clean and orderly manner.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with individuals served.
- Attend in-service as directed.
- Assist during the arrival and departure of individuals served.
- Assist in toileting needs, i.e. placing on toilet, changing diapers, depending on needs of individual.
- Provide supervision and assistance with toileting individuals served.
- Other duties as assigned.
